How to join the Rhode Island Association of Buyer Agents

You are eligible for membership if you are an individual who is an advocate of buyer representation. You may join if you follow one of these types of real estate representations:

Exclusive Buyer Agent (EBA)
An exclusive buyer agent who works for a real estate office that DOES NOT take listings of any kind. You represent buyers only, exclusively, 100% of the time

Buyer Agent (BA)
A buyer agent that works in a traditional real estate offfice that takes listings can be a member if they work with a buyer under contract and do not sell that buyer, their client, one of their company’s listings This association opposes dual agency of any kind!

Single Agent (SA)
A single agent works for a real estate office that takes listings, but will represent only one party in the same transaction.
You may be a single agent, that represents the seller only in the transaction and not the buyer. Or you may be a single agent that represents the buyer only in the transaction and not the seller. YOU WILL NOT PRACTICE DUAL AGENCY! You can not show company listings.

Exclusive Listing Agent (ELA)
An exclusive listing agent who works for a real estate office that takes listings only. They represent sellers only, exclusivly, 100% of the time.

Other(O)
You are eligible for membership if you are an advocate of buyer representation. For example: Lawyers, bankers, title agents, appraisers,insurance agents, inspectors,...

The Rhode Island Association of Buyer Agents opposes dual agency. We feel that it does not help the seller nor the buyer in the purchase of a house. No one gets represented. In effect, you are doing a disservice for the buyer and the seller.

All members will receive upon payment of annual dues:
  1. •Annual Directory of Members: Classified by State and Member type of representation: EBA, BA, SA, ELA, and O.
  2. •Authorization to use RIABA symbol on all forms of advertisement
  3. •Leads from online form on the the RIABA internet site (If there is more then one agent in the area, all agents in that area will receive the lead.)
  4. •Discounts on Lectures, Workshops, and Seminars
  5. •General Annual Meeting
  6. •Referral networking : 25% Referral fee will be sent to the association upon the closing of the given lead. (10% of this fee will go to the administrator of the association. 15% will go to the funding of the RIABA.)
        Dues for the Association are:
in-state $125annually
out-state $115annually.
